Rough start to the week...

It hit me this week that Mother´s Day is coming up and we are going to skype in less than 2 weeks! YAY! I am excited to chat with everyone and to see little kayan!! Also I am so excited for Kade and Annie´s wedding!! I was so very happy to read that in your email. And so jealous that you are going to make strawberry cake for them! Yum! Also the tulip festival looks gorgeous. After being in a third world country for so long, you kind of forget how beautiful things are in America! Mom I´m glad you survived prom week! I recall going in and sitting in the shop with you in the middle of all that madness, and I wasn´t very helpful. But it was nice to hang out with you and you always gave me lots of treats too!

Sooo we kind of had a rough week with teaching ... but there was good stuff that happened and we are still smiling! Especially at the end of the week our branch had a really good activity and tons of people came. I love this branch so much! Everyone is really trying their best, and helping out doing their part, so the end product is that usually things work out well! Our part of the building where we hold church is under construction right now. It is good because they are building walls so we will have more classrooms but then puts a pause on the branch activities that we normally have almost every weeknight. Haha I offered to help do the mudding and taping to get the work moving faster! If grandma was here directing them it would have been done a long time ago! ;)

The photos this week-
I found a neat feature on my camera that makes a picture collage from a video, so hahaha here is a silly one of me trying so do summer saults at the sand dunes!
More of our cute easter eggs! Thanks again mom :)
A shot of the view from our apartment window, the water is SO BLUE!
And last but not least, scone with nutella and powder sugar! yessss i love myself. sister turley knows how to make cinnamon rolls so i said sister lets use that dough to make scones! Yum so good, it reminded me when we would always make scones on sundays. Oh and of course I made some honey butter too!

So I don´t have a lot to write this week but I did want to share an experience I had. Yesterday afternoon I was needing a little something so I opened the october conference ensign and read some talks. Through what I read (elder cook´s talk about peace, and also the young women talks by sister dibb and sister cook) I felt I needed to write in my journal some too. It is hard to describe but the Spirit was guiding me to do those things so that I could have a spiritual experience and feel the love of the Lord. It was a tender experience and was just what I was needing after having a bit of a hard week. I konw that Heavenly Father loves us so deeply. Everything we go through is for our good and our spiritual progression if we rely on the Atonement. I love the gospel.

Well that was a some what scattered email... ta bom! I love you guys and can´t wait to chat in two weeks. The church is true!

Love,
Sister Turner

p.s. Oh and this is random but Mom thanks for teaching me how to clean ... I cleaned our apartment this week, it was nasty. anywho LOVE YOU!

First week in Boa Vista

First things first- Happy Annivarsary Mom and Dad! Hope you guys have a great day and know that I am thinking of you guys extra today :) It sounds like Tim-Tim had a good birthday and everyone had a good Easter too, I´m happy to hear that! We also had a great Easter sacrament meeting and afterwards dyed eggs which was fun! There are some investigators of our branch who are from places like Guinea Bissau and they don't speak Portuguese just English so I translated during sacrament meeting. It was interesting haha! It was a neat experience and I was feeling the Spirit 1. help me so much to translate and 2. testify to me of the truthfulness of the Ressurrection of Jesus Christ. I am so grateful for this season of the year that we have to remember our Savior a little more.

This week was a little crazy but it was good! We love Boa Vista so much and are so excited to work here. It is BEAUTIFUL and the branch here is AWESOME. We did have a little bit of a hard time finding our investigators which is normal after white washing an area. We are working though and know it will get better. But really the branch has been helpful and are really united so it just has a great feeling being with them.

Oh funny story so when we got here we didn't have water in our apartment for 4 days. So I sent a picture of the man named igalnaldo who we bought water from every day! He is our neighbor and is such a nice little old man.

The elders had baptism on saturday and Medea who got baptised was just so happy! You could tell that he really felt the spirit at his baptism. It was beautiful. The city in the background is our area Sal Rei!

Today we had an activity and went to the sand dunes! Oh my goodness so much sand. Just look at us in the hiace on the way back, our hair was full of sand! I have some funny videos to send but it isn't working today.

Yesterday was some championship soccer game so it was kind of hard to find our investigators at home. While we were out this man called out to us ´hey are you guys who I think you are?´ Yep we are missionaries! Well he was a tourist and talked to us for a good 15 minutes. He had a TON of questions but at the end when we tried to mark an appointment with him but he just said he wanted to argue with us. Okay fair enough. I am glad he was honest! I had never had an experience like that on my whole mission. It just made me even more grateful to be serving here in Cabo Verde. This country is full of people who really are seeking the truth! I am so grateful to be here. The mission truly is a humbling experience. I am incredible grateful for the testimony of the gospel that we have. We understand our purpose here on earth and what we must do to return to our Heavenly Father´s presence. He loves us so much. The love we feel for the people here isn't our love, but really the love of Heavenly Father. Oh I love the gospel, so perfect.

Another hour has past so I must go now. But I need you guys to know that I love you so much! Always thank you for everything and have a wonderful week!

Surprise transfer!

Boa Tarde.
I am so sorry but I literally only have 5 minutes to write cause I have to be at the airport in less than an hour ... yep I am getting transferred!! (I will miss Praia I loved my 3 transfers here) But now I am off to the island of BOA VISTA!!! I am going to serve with sister turley there! Haha Turley & Turner sounds like a lawfirm. :) I am excited for us to go and work there I hear they have a good branch going! Something that is a little crazy is that the island only has one set of elders and one set of sisters! I am really looking forward to serving with Sister Turley. I have met her a couple times and she is so sweet!

This week we had zone conference so here is a picture of all the missionaries on the island of santiago. Tchau!
I love this work. It doesn't matter where we serve but that we remember WHO we are serving- Our Lord Jesus Christ. I love you all so much and I am always looking forward to hearing for you guys every week! Keep living the gospel, it´s true. Until next week when I can write more!! LOVE YOU!

Conference was GREAT!!

Boa Tarde.

This week flew by so fast, the transfer is almost over. Mom, the new place looks like it is going well and it is going to turn out cute for sure! This week there was a leadership counsel and it went really well. I am excited about the plans the mission has for the next 3 months. I sent a picture of all the sister training leaders and of my good friend Sister Anderson who I was so happy to see! After the conference I got to open my package and I loved it! You know me too well! Hahaha every thing in there is so great and I was laughing at the neat things you guys sent me! We all have been munching on the sweets and I am excited to make jello! is it just one cup hot water, one cup cold? I don't remember very well :) Oh yes and the clothes fit great you guys did an awesome job! I don´t know what you are talking about Mom the box was SO FULL!! Hahah the sisters just marvel at how much stuff you guys always get inside of the box. They said you need to do a YouTube tutorial to show how you guys pack those boxes so tight!! We are all enjoying the package and I will send pictures when we dye eggs. :) THANK YOU!

General Conference was so great!! I loved it so much. AND PLUS GOOD SHOCKING NEWS- we got to watch it in English! They sent up a classroom with a plasma screen and the missionaries who wanted to watch got to attend in English. What a blessing. In October it was good in Portuguese but not going to lie I really enjoy it in English. And the talks were so direct and filled with doctrine. The world actually kind of sounds like a scary place right now... so we need to be focusing on protecting our selves and our families spiritually. I especially loved Sister Reese´s talk, and Elder Christofferson and elder Holland and Elder Cook and obviously President Monson too! So inspired. Our church is truly led by divine inspiration. Even though we basically sat all day during conference we were all so tired because it is like a spiritual feast! But really we were so fed by the Spirit and the best part is that we can continue to be if we re-watch and re-study the talks in the ensign! I loved general conference and just the fact that Heavenly Father loves us enough to keep giving us modern revelation to help us stay on the path. It sounds like you guys really enjoyed it and had a good time too and I was happy to hear that!!

wow the hour is already gone. I hope everyone has a good week and that the spirit of conference will continue with all of us! Amo vocês muito muito!!
Love,
Sister Turner

p.s. I told sister Nelson ´´Hello´´ when I saw her this week at conference! Also the other Sisters had a baptism! Meloisa who is the sister of Deu and Simonica, who I told you about in my last letter!
She is so sweet!
